Lab2Market

Lab2Market@Técnico is an innovation acceleration program organized by Técnico in collaboration with NTT Data and
i-Deals, with the aim of finding the best way to value technologies developed at Técnico that can generate value and solve society’s problems.

Purpose:

The selected teams will receive 250 hours of consulting and training given by specialized consultants and for 9 weeks they will acquire skills and learn to build a business model *(1) that allows them, in a language accessible to all, to show the full potential of their technology to companies and potential customers *(2), as well as exploring possible markets and different approaches to applying the technology they are developing.

  • (1) – The first 4 weeks of the program are focused on the business model and how you should work your pitch.
  • (2) – The last 5 weeks are focused on approaching the market and contacting companies and potential customers.

Who can apply:

Professors, researchers, PhD and Master’s students at Instituto Superior Técnico who are developing innovative technologies/projects.

When applying, each team must:

  • Master an innovative technology in any area;
  • Have the desire to innovate and take technology further;
  • Have at least 2 elements.

What is Lab2Market?

It is an innovation acceleration program that aims to support and train researchers, professors, doctoral and master’s students at Instituto Superior Técnico on the best way to value the technology they are developing and to contact the market.

When does the program run?

Lab2Market runs from March to May 2023.
The program starts with a workshop that will take place on the 8th of March and will end with a final event on the 31st of May, to be held at the Alameda Campus of the Instituto Superior Técnico.

Who can participate?

Professors, researchers, PhD and Master’s students at Instituto Superior Técnico who are developing a technology that can be applied in the market.

What do I gain from participating?

Skills and preparation to contact companies;

By building a technology business model you will be better prepared to compete for competitive funds like Horizon 2030 as well as to participate in other acceleration programs;

Coming to the conclusion that there is no market viability for the technology.

Do I have to pay to participate?

No. Participation is free.

How can I apply?

Just fill in the application form. Registration is open until February 8th.

Can I participate alone?

No. To participate, you must have a team of 2 to 5 people. A team shares ideas, supports you in tasks and provides the necessary inputs so that you can get the best out of the program.

How does team selection work?

Applications will be analyzed by a jury composed of members of Técnico and mentors from I-deals.

How will Applications be evaluated?

The jury will evaluate the team, the degree of innovation of the technology, what problem it solves and what it can be applied to, the market and your motivation to participate in the program.
